How to Use Setting Spray: Distance, Amount and Timing
Setting spray is held 8-12 inches from the face and applied with 3-4 sprays as the very last step of your makeup. Your eyes should be closed and your face tilted slightly up. Wait 30 seconds for the droplets to land on the skin and dry; touching your face before then shifts the layer.

Why Does Makeup Break Down Midday?
There are three mechanisms behind makeup breaking down midday: oil from the skin floats the color layer and makes it slide, facial movement cracks layers that don't flex and collects them in lines, and touching and eating physically wear the layer away. How to Mattify Shiny Skin

The amount is decisive here. If a thick layer of powder goes over the existing layer, it mixes with the oil and creates a gray look. The goal isn't to build a new layer of coverage but to break up the reflection of light.
The application tool also changes the result. A brush spreads powder over a wide area and gives a natural finish; the tip of a sponge presses powder into a single spot, so it works in a more controlled way in narrow areas like the sides of the nose.
How to Fix a Smudged Under-Eye Area
A smudged under-eye area is fixed not by adding new concealer but by pressing with a fingertip. Gently pressing the area and spreading the built-up product out of the line is enough in most cases; adding product on top thickens the buildup and makes the line more visible.
If the lower line has smudged, rebuilding it with the 13-hour long-wear eye pencil is both faster and less risky than removing all your eye makeup. If your lashes have lost volume, the volumizing and curling mascara needs just one pass on the tips; starting from the roots causes clumping.
How to Refresh Faded Lipstick During the Day
Faded lipstick is reapplied not to the whole lip but only to the center. Wear moves from the inside out: the center of the lips wears off first from friction, while the outline at the edge lasts a bit longer. Recoloring the whole lip thickens this edge.
The plumping lip gloss brings back faded color without disturbing the edge line and feels lighter than a second layer of lipstick.
If you're touching up after a meal, blot your lips dry first. Color placed on a damp surface won't grip and breaks down again within 10 minutes. The same rule applies to concealer and powder; any surface left damp makes the next layer slide.
What Is the Most Common Touch-Up Mistake?
The most common mistake is reapplying the morning's product more heavily to the area that has broken down. The new layer can't grip the shifted layer underneath, the two move together and the look gets worse within a few minutes. The right order is to smooth first, then add a very small amount of product.
